PowerTap - Training with power - Part 1. The complete groupsets buying guide. Both can get the heart rate if you use a polar H7 heart strap and you pair it with the v first, then start pairing with the v I used that setup for a while until I got tired of waiting self-guided gps bike tour by bikes and hikes the v to be updated for a logical cooperation between both devices, then I bought polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer garmin edge and it does with the v much better I get all the data in both platforms.
Thanks gpw lot for the quick response. Or can I pair both sensors before the start and the V would stay on the gymlink connection? That way the V would find the H7 bluetooth in the transition zone with the V already connected. Did you try this already? I will try it this weekend and will let you know. If you unpair your V and h7 before swim start it will work. V use the gymlink and v enanled up the bt signal at the start of the pola leg. I used this setup for an IM race last year. Got hr and ploar on booth devices.
No power in the Frozen bike accessories thought but I can live with that. polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer
Thanks a lot! Great to have you folks around here. Always great discussions and new thoughts. Yes you can, no problem as long as you force the analogic lock with V by pairing with the v through the BLTE connection first. As long as the v remains locked with the H7, the v will pick the BLTE signal when you get in range again. It is just a pain…. Would somebody be able to help with some xycling Say, if I polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer the zones so that a zone would be exactly the range of power I wanted to hold, and then use that zoom in feature, I could somewhat imagine it to be useful….
The V is able to permanently change the power meter crank length on your Stages! I have contacted Stages power. The only way to fix this is to change the crank length via the Stages power app. This will fix the incorrect crank length.
Is there anything missing? Hi Paulo, it will work. Keep tapping on the screen near the best free bike computer app for android. I too was disappointed that it did not work initially.
Ray is right. Why Polar wud tinker with crank length is beyond me. Stages app showed mm crank length for coputer Thanks Niko polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer letting me know.
Also, the Polar V can change the device type. I own two Stages powermeters — one on the TT bike and the other on the Roadie.
cycing Ray, do you have a idea if this works? Thanks for your answer! Can somebody please help me out? I would like to get a new track on my polar Polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer How can I get this track on polar. I only know you can use your own used tracks or from other people.
But I would like to create a track on strava or gpsies or something similar and download it on my device. Is there a chance somehow? Thanks a lot. A long awaited and basic feature all of us would like to have. There is a workaround though, albeit tedious and android only.
This is taken from their online forum:. Sorry, but that Facebook link is dead — can you give me a working link or post here? Many thanks. Polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer Polar released Flow 3. Spoke with cycing Polar representative on Swedish bike expo and according to him phone sync for the V is going to be released soon.
Polar Flow 3. Sure it looks new and different, but the functionality is dumbed down. For example, the plot of my rides accessible on my iPhone 6 would previously top garmin gps all the collected data including heart rate, speed, cadence and an altitude plot.
Now just heart rate and speed are plotted in the graph. I stand corrected. The button polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer expand the data graph and show more data is gone in 3.
But I discovered you just touch the graph image and it will open to the expanded mode similar to before. No button required. Next, just synchronize the V with your computer to enabledd the route onto your V where you can select it.
Every time I turn off V and turn back on I have polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer remove pairings and then polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer again to get it to recognize sensors.
In a chat with Polar support they acknowledge it as bike computer with temperature issue and that they are working on a fix. Enablsd, known issue but the workaround you mention is not needed. Quicker than re-pairing all of ehabled. According to a Polar representative on Swedish Bike Expo a fix for it is a few weeks away. Polar needs to fix this right away. Software 1. And also prep for Flow mobile sync?
The latest update fixed the sensor pairing issue.
The QC for the recent V updates have been non-existent. As you say, with the latest update to the V, the pairing issue we experienced from the prior update was addressed.
However, I still get my training load and recovery reported in Polar Flow.
So no problems for me. The M and M have had a lot of problems with the micro USB port g;s we experience frequent and ongoing problems with pairing and settings. By comparison, the V has been very stable and reliable. My only criticism for the V is the back light should be good small computers and stay on longer, as I never have a issue with battery life. It is quite a different device to that when it first came g650.
Kudos to Polar for keeping the firmware updates coming.
No pairing or settings problems with polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer device and I prefer the size of the M to the V The latest firmware recovery status works for me. But after firmware update I notice that non-polar sensor had to be rediscover. After synchronizing today I got recovery status for the training sessions from the past week that were missing this information.
During my last 2 or 3 rides—the V randomly goes from my screen of choice to the new route screen and I have to switch it back. Anyone else experiencing this? Hi Klaus—yes it was on a route so that must be it. Agree—not a big deal at all—just an annoyance. Thank you!!! Polar finally released GPX route mountain bike computer Does anybody polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer a V with a Stages PM? If both polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer this behaviour, than Stages is the culprit.
Stages already had a look at the PM and said their best bike computer to show cadence indicate nothing is wrong so they are pointing towards v in combo with the PM. I have both the blue cover and the newest revision with exercise bike with computer game plastic. I can be doing RPM and all of a sudden it cuts out to 0.
After about a second it works it way back up to the real RPM. I think that at the moment the solution is used official polar sensor with magnet because RPM Wahoo cadence sensor uses a built in accelerometer which can be affected by sharp bumps.
These bumps can cause a spike in the data. Ugly story! Looks like Polar introduced another bug in the latest v polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer flow update not sure which one. That makes my power meter essentially useless to Training Peaks since my power values are incorrect. Thanks Klaus for letting us know. I will not update the V until a definitive fix has polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer made.
This happens everytime and renders my V useless until the next update. Temp fix for your workout files: Download Golden Cheetah free. Save your modifications and export the file. Please keep us up to date. Is it just me or has the V become a really good unit with the latest updates? Now I must say it does the job really well in every aspect. I love the Maps! It almost deserves a new review. I could not agree more!
But I still wait for that new bikemount that is to come in july now. I looked at the feature chart, and it seems like it might not have this capability on the unit itself, but can an interval workout be created in Polar Flow, and then transferred to the V?
I have not used it with power but hope to do that soon.
Thanks very much, Davesee. The is pretty close, but I just fancy something new. What do you miss compared to an Edge ? A lot of things: Then there is the ecosystem as well. Polar does not play with many others. Garmin plays with a lot more. It pretty much just works. Feature for feature there is no comparison.
Thank you Michael. I mentioned the Sigma Rox I have recently started using MyFitnessPal and can get information to automatically transfer between Garmin Connect, MyFitnessPal and Fitbit so I get a holistic picture of my energy intake and expenditure. There was a long time when Polar suited my needs. Now Garmin suits my needs better. Until I started using my data in multiple platforms I enkeeo wireless bike computer manual happy with Polar.
Garmin does that better than Polar. Which Fitbit do you use? I use a Fitbit One. It just goes in a pocket and tracks my steps, not my hand movements. It means I can wear whatever watch I want. From MyFitnessPal the activity details will then also get passed to Fitbit to factor into your daily total. In summary, I raniaco bike computer 29 inch wheel code Fitbit to record weight and daily polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer, Garmin Polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer to record exercise and MyFitnessPal to track food and bring it all together.
I forgot to mention the Garmin will also do Live Tracking, so your activities can be followed by others almost polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer real time. Hi Ray, Polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer Thanks for the response on my question. Second I must say that I bought the v and I am using it for a month now along with the Polar scale the device works fine my average km per ride are about so I am not what you call an advance cyclist.
I just want to ask is there any chance Polar will polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer live tracking and incident alert at this device or she is going to replace soon with a new device?
Anyone having issues syncing rides via mobile phone since last update? Same issue here! Latest version of Polar Flow app installed iPhone and latest software polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer installed V Can anyone resolve this problem please?
Hi Chris—mine is syncing now. So setting it to W for example like the Garmin Edge can. Upload polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer to the flow-website go to your favourite routes, there is a button in the upper right corner and choose your file. Would I be better off to use a screen with some smoothing? You generally have to apply smoothing to displayed power data. The minimum would be 3 seconds to get what amounts to an instantaneous reading.
Thanks Michael—hopefully will get something useful set up. Otherwise I may have to follow you and Klaus to the greener pasture…. Ended up with Powertap GS hub btw. I went with a 4iiii, mainly for the price. Might be worth considering. Going to give professional road bike computer mount V a go just worked on setting up some new screens for power so hoping I get some good weather this week for some outdoor rides to test.
Easy fix and got this for an micro bike computer steal. Much longer battery life then my edge Screen resolution is better then the edge as well. If I get another power meter, I might consider going back to Garmin, but Polar has done a great job finally getting the firmware updates out there for this v Well, for me battery life is the only benefit from V Everything else is just half done.
Route guidance is not working properly. There is also a bug if your route go on the same road in two different direction. Polar Flow simply erase the part of the route.
This is very known bug for Polar support for about 6 month, but nothing is done yet. Anyone using still using Powertap P1 pedals with V? On Polar website it mentions basic support for P1 pedals so trying to understand what basic means. Polar is not saying a word on a fix. I would stay clear of the V for know.
Has anyone got a Quarq powermeter in use with the Polar V? From my earlier comments, I have kept the Polar V in a drawer for the last 2 years. It messed up my Stages powermeter by altering its crank length and I was hesitant to use it again. In view of the recent updates, I thought I would give it a go yday. Polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer my disappointment, my power readings were halved. Just wondering if anyone else had any issues with inaccurate power readings?
I saw that too a while back. A V update—Strava live segments! Excited to try it out. Not to get greedy but hopefully they can add Training Peaks metrics soon but the fact that there was an update is great. Can you find out if Strava live segments work like on Garmin or Wahoo, means that you compare to the actual effort, but cateye sensor against any mean time?
Like eg the Strava app: If you have a segment polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer a long flat part at the start and a climb in the last half, it bike holder for garmin gps you think you are ways ahead in the flat part. But this is not true, because the Strava app is way too simple just comparing against average times.
So I tried it out today—on flat segments they were the same. On segments with up and down or flat with climb at end they were different. I think V was more accurate than Strava app when there were differences but polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer scientific.
Thanks a lot for testing. I once had a M and I think it behaves more like the Strava app. Is it possible to set a goal on the v implementation?
And also just to mention—apparently there is a limit of 20 segments that can be loaded. Is there also a map view showing the segment?
So it will let you know segment is approaching and it will tell compuetr far until you reach the start. Once you get to the segment it goes to map screen. If it is a long segment it might work ok. I really like the 2nd screen though one posted above. Since the update with Strava I enablwd had problems connecting with my power polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer and when you train by power that is a cyclinng problem.
At first I thought it was power meter but I found I could connect to power meter just fine with the phone. It functions really well touchscreen, button, lap button, mapping, battery and has never dropped a ride.
My only other complaint is that getting ride off the computer to phone is enavled than ideal. It usually takes 2 attempts to get it to computef maybe it works better for others. Computrr I also thought it might be a problem but actually it reads just fine under the Sun so much so that it never came to my mind it is a problem until you brought it up. Thinking back I think I never had polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer had problem legibiity if anytihng I think I read the phone so much better maybe because it is also very big fonts but it is extremely eye catching black background with bright green unit font.
Also I have adapative screen brightness so which means outdoors it is probably at max polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer it works fine and I think it is better than fine. Of course I am also trying to infrom the others that the phone is more than capable to be CC than any dedicated CC.
It always puzzles me polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer a garmin gps tracking bike cost so much more than most very powerful phones with amazing display and once I was directed to the right track I find it extremely hard to switch back because I just can't see any physical advantages of a dedicted CC over a modern phone.
Its almost like dedicated Garmin car satnav. I had the most expensive one but now I just my phone's google map all the time instead of my lexus dedicated satnav.
I personally think the phone should be able to perform much and better than any dedicated CC out there simply because of the much more powerful computing power and other more advanced components.
Only thing it needs is one kick ass App and it will just render any dedicated CC obsolete. Sometimes you got to wonder.
I push go and ride, spending 2 seconds to choose a route if I'm following one. I've just come back from a week cycle touring in the Netherlands, and I spent precisely 0 minutes getting the elemnt set up for the miles of routes I planned to follow. I already mentioned it will definitly do more than 7 hours on the phone at least on the Galaxy S7 Edge and so it should be good for long days. WIth regards to map you don't need anything but just have Google Map and then you are set.
Even simpler. Most of the dedicated CC now trends on doing all the settings on your phone in an App, which is one of the main points they are flauting on. Another is how they use bluetooth to connect to your phone to recieve messages. You then wonder why you need that when you can use that phone? It just shows stationary computer bike phone is just a much better medium to use as a dedicated CC.
Have you ever used a turn by turn based dedicated CC? Small screen and very hard to nevigate or change course. You did most of the course work and uploading prior to your ride as you've mentioned. With google map it is so easy and much pleasing to the eye and most important I trust it because I use it as my main sat nav even for driving. I can search where I want to go easily and can even see pictures of surroundings. No dedicated CC maps has that. Not to mention google maps is world wide you polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer use around the bike monitor for gps distance traveled calories burned and don't have to rely on map uploads.
Yes but you are right polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer need to fiddle around a lot of settings with IpBike and can take a lot of time before you get to heaven, where as a dedicated you just turn it on and it is mostly there. But I remember taking time setting up the garin too and choose what to have on the main page etc.
I did mention if any company make a kick ass dedicated CC app for the phone polar v650 gps enabled cycling computer it will render garmin and wahoo obsolete. I will definitly pay for the app. One of the main function is to tell speed right? Guess what it can't when you pair it with speed sensor and GPS turned on. So you have to turn to indoor setting to use the speed sensor.
I think they sorted this out after half a year and only recently and still problems with other things. The two Garmins I have are not very reliable, bike computer sd 546c in fact one of them had to replaced twice by Garmin, once after only 1 hour's use. Skip to main content.
